The purpose of the Creative Masters project was to find a Hispanic person who was very famous in their culture. And to re-produce their work into your own style, so you just basically re-create their piece of work into your own style. So what I did, is that I chose Salvador Dali and i chose to re-create his melting clocks art work and his Elephants combined into one.

The basic requirements for this project was to research on a bunch of artists choose one person, write about how they influenced their culture, produce a creative writing piece, choose how your going to re-express their work, create the art work, then create a digital presentation to present your art work and, finally we had to do an art reflection.

Well, the first thing I learned during this project was that Salvador Dali has his own unique style of art he created surreal pieces of art. He was influenced by Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro, which were other artists of their own style. Salvador Dali was born in Figueras, Spain which was a small part in the northern section. In 1922 Salvador Dali moved to Madrid where he started to study painting at the Academy of Arts, he also experimented with cubism. Then he moved to Paris, France to pursue his career and it is also the place where he met Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro. I chose Salvador Dali because, he was one of those unique artists because, he would put a metal spoon into his hand and fall asleep, he would get a mind vision in his head and, before he knew it the spoon would drop and wake him up, then he would immediately start painting the visions he saw.

Salvador Dali’s real name was actually Salvador Domenec Felip Jacint Dali Domenech, and he was famous for his popular artwork mostly known as the Melting Clocks. Like I said he has his own unique style of painting which looked surreal, he would usually take everyday normal items and transform them into what looks like a dream. I chose the melting clocks and the elephants for my project I just combined them because, in the beginning I was just going to do the melting clocks part but, it didn’t fit the whole construction paper i was using. So what I did was added my own style of Salvador Dali’s elephants then, I got a better idea and put the melting clocks into the elephants hands and then I made it look as it was melting off of its hands.

Salvador Dali was a wealthy artists during his lifetime, hes was famous for his painting known as the melting clocks. He also became a great success in the U.S. from his numerous paintings but, also caused a lot of attention to the media from his unique style called surrealism. He even had 2 museums dedicated to his life’s work of paintings one in Figueres, Spain and the other located in Florida, U.S.A. Before he died in 1989 Dali created over 100’s pieces of art, works in film, opera and, advertising illustrations.

Since this project was independent I worked on it by my self, I turned everything just on time this project which I thought I did well on. But, on the art piece I kind of procrastinated on it because, I didn’t have any paint markers at the time. In the future I will try to paint my art with acrylics instead because, markers take forever and they run out of paint pretty fast.

During this project I was actually very organized, I had a binder with different tabs and on my computer i had specific folders set up for everything. Time management worked out very well this project we had 3 weeks to complete it and I turned all the products in time. Even though the poster took forever to make with paint markers I still finished it the weekend before it was due.

It seemed pretty easy in the beginning because, we actually had a choice to choose what we wanted to re-create. While I was sketching out my art out it seemed like I still had a lot of space on the bottom, so I revised it and then I added an elephant onto the bottom of the page. I thought that revising this part of my poster made it look so much better then it did before.

One challenged that I faced was figuring out what I should add to my art project because, while I was sketching out my art onto the poster the bottom was empty so I had to look up more images on Google. My solution was to add another piece of art from Salvador Dali which helped me a lot and it looked way better then just painting a clock.

Now moving onto the Hispanic Culture project, the purpose of this project was to research on hispanic culture but, first we had to answer 5 essential questions, choose a topic of our own choice which were, Explorers, Cultural Themes, Current Issues, Contemporary Figures, and Pop Culture. And after that we had to create 2 minute digital presentation including visuals, graphics, and Spanish writing.

For my project I actually researched a little bit of the Underground Hip-Hop artists named 2Mex but, I’m actually going to talk about Mariachi. This type of music style is from the Latino culture and was usually played during weddings, or special moments. To the Latino culture its not just the music that they play its also about their cultural revolution. The musicians were also dressed up in fancy clothing called charro suits, which represents Mexico and its people.

The instruments that they used were rattles, drums, flutes, and conch shell horns. But, then they upgraded to violins, guitars, harps, brass horns, and woodwinds. Today in a complete mariachi group there are as much as 8 eight violins, 2 trumpets, and a guitar. When all of these instruments combine it sounds pretty unique to any other genre of music you’ve ever heard, the smooth sound of the violins, the deep toned guitar, and the trumpets.

The significance of the clothing that the band of mariachis wear means more then what you see. The first mariachis dressed up with working attire which were large straw sombreros with a chin strap, a hat band, a red sarape, leather pants, a cotton shirt made with special material, and neat shoes or sandals. But, now a days you could see them with neat clothing with various colors.

For this project we work individually which helped me to stay on task because, I had to all of the work. My best aspect of this project was probably getting good information for my digital presentation. But, my worst was probably doing other things like looking for pictures to post on my presentation.

My organization skills on this project was alright, I had turned in all of my work just in time. And I was very productive near the end of this project.

The only revisions I did on this project were probably my digital presentation. Near the end I found out that all the writing had to be translated word by word in our Spanish dictionary but, even though it took forever I got the job done. One of the problems I faced during this project was researching to get information because, I was too lazy to do it but, then I wanted to get a good grade so I came over the problem by not being lazy and being productive.
